A lot of groups live a "plain" lifestyle like the Amish.
Through a good friend of mine I was introduced to a
family that lived a lot like the Mennonites, one of the more
modern of the plain groups. I was told about the family
when there were just four daughters. A few years and two
daughters later the mother and all of the girls dropped by
my gallery and asked if they could be part of my series on
the plain people. We set up a session for the spring of
1995. At that first session I took over 200 pictures. In
three years I had five sessions. The following are some
of the images from those sessions.
